Wet Paint Tests

Three groups of tests can be performed on wet paint:

1. Physical Property Tests
2. Physical Condition Tests Before Curing
3. Tests After Curing

Physical Tests of Wet Paint:

• Density
• Solid Content
• Volatile Matter
• Krebs Viscosity
• Fineness Determination
• Flash Point Determination

Tests Performed on Wet Paint Before Curing:

• Viscosity of Ready-to-Use Mixture (Ford cup or Din cup 4)
• Touch Drying Time Determination
• Complete Drying (Curing) Determination
• Pot Life
• Opacity Test etc.

Tests Performed on Wet Paint After Curing:

• All Mechanical Tests (Film thickness, adhesion, pull-off, stone throwing, abrasion, bending, scratching, hardness, impact, etc.)
• Chemical Durability Tests (alkaline, acidic, solvent resistance, etc.)
• Corrosion Resistance Tests (Salt spray, resistance to humid environments, etc.)
• Aging Tests (UV, Heat, Cold, Thermal shock, etc.
