METALTEK has been authorized to initiate comparison tests among all laboratories holding or in the process of obtaining the TS EN ISO 17025 certification, as well as those interested in observing their measurement performance, following the acquisition of the TS EN ISO 17043 certification in 2024. With its high-tech test equipment, years of testing experience, and professional staff, METALTEK has started its journey to close another gap in this field. METALTEK plans to regularly open cycles, especially in the areas of Aging Corrosion Tests, Environmental Endurance Tests, and Mechanical Tests, and will continue to support accredited laboratories whenever needed.

The aim of the programs, which are planned to be repeated at least twice a year, is to enable participating laboratories to join the comparison program, which is a requirement of the quality systems, and allow laboratories to track and evaluate changes in their performance over time to improve it.

Every testing laboratory needs a quality assurance system to provide better service to its clients, strengthen its organization, improve working conditions, and ensure the consistency and continuity of service standards.

Inter-laboratory comparison programs are essential tools used to evaluate the effectiveness of a quality assurance system. In these programs, the quality assessment of the participating laboratories can be made with an unbiased perspective.

As is well known, no matter how much care a laboratory takes to measure accurately within the measurement uncertainty limits, the possibility of measurement error always exists. Comparison programs play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of measurements. By participating in these comparison programs, laboratories can test the accuracy of their measurements.

Inter-laboratory comparison programs reveal the real performance of participating laboratories, along with their quality system, and help improve the laboratory's service level.

Participation in comparison programs also serves as an important reference source for laboratories accredited under ISO/IEC 17025 or those in the process of accreditation during audits.

A working group has been formed in Turkey to establish a comparison program in the field of corrosion. The group's work plan includes identifying laboratories performing corrosion testing, determining which corrosion-aging programs laboratories would like to participate in, and running comparison programs for the identified test products.
