Three groups of tests can be performed on wet paint: 1. Physical Properties Tests 2. Pre-curing Physical Condition Tests 3. Post-curing Tests Physical Tests of Wet Paint: a. Density b. Solid content c. Volatile content d. Krebs viscosity e. Fineness determination f. Flash point determination Pre-curing Tests of Wet Paint: a. Viscosity of the ready-to-use mixture (Ford cup or Din cup 4) b. Touch dry time determination c. Full cure (curing) determination d. Pot life e. Hiding power test, etc. Post-curing Tests of Wet Paint: a. All mechanical tests (Film thickness, adhesion, pull-off, impact, abrasion, bending, scratching, hardness, impact resistance, etc.) b. Chemical resistance tests (alkali, acidic, solvent, etc.) c. Corrosion resistance tests (Salt spray, resistance to humid environments, etc.) d. Weathering tests (UV, heat, cold, thermal shock, etc.
