This test is preferred to determine the resistance of paint films, coating systems, and related products to high humidity conditions according to the requirements specified in the coating or product specifications. This method can be applied to coatings on both porous substrate materials, such as wood, plaster, and drywall, as well as non-porous substrates, such as metal. In the TS EN ISO 6270-1 method, one side of the panels is exposed to an environment with 40°C and relative humidity, while the other side is exposed to ambient conditions. Panel samples are used for the test. At the end of the moisture exposure test, the coated panels are examined for any degradation in the coating (such as blistering, staining, softening, wrinkling, and becoming brittle) and any degradation in the substrate material.
